The coastal village of Stoke Fleming lies on the shores of Start Bay just three miles from Dartmouth. Its clifftop position, lying within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, provides panoramic views over one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the UK. Within walking distance is the award-winning beach at Blackpool Sands, and other beaches along the shores of the bay and along the coast top Salcombe are within easy reach by car. Inland the countryside is of rolling hills and winding lanes, with woodlands, streams and pastures.

The village has a pub, restaurant called Radius 7, café-restaurant and shop at Blackpool Sands, post office, church and primary school. All the facilities of Dartmouth – shops, cafes and restaurants, river trips, boat hire and angling  - are 10 minutes away. The South Devon Coast Path runs through the parish, and on the edge of the parish is Woodlands Leisure Park, with attractions for all the family. Accommodation includes a hotel, guest houses, B&B and self catering, and caravan and camping parks.
