Sidmouth is nestled on the South Devon stretch of the Jurassic Coast, this World Heritage Site runs from Orcombe Point in Exmouth in to Dorset and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its outstanding historical significance. The rocks and cliffs of the coastline portraits 185 million years of the Earth’s history and includes the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods.
As well as sitting on the Jurassic Coast, Sidmouth has the South West Coast Path runs along the it’s seafront connecting, by footpath, the town to the picturesque villages of Branscombe, Beer and town of Seaton in the East and Budliegh Salterton and Exmouth to the West.
Throughout the year the town hosts a wide range of events including the Sidmouth Literary Festival, Sidmouth Folk Week and Sidmouth Regatta. The town has two beaches, Sidmouth beach which runs the length of the town and the Esplanade and is the perfect family friendly beach and Jacobs Ladder Beach, to the west, which is accessed by a series of white wooden steps and Connaught Garden.
