Top 10 Music Festivals in South Devon

Golden sands and cerulean seas, undulating countryside and welcoming communities; what better place to enjoy a music festival than in the stunning South Devon? In this part of the region, we boast some of the top music festivals all throughout the year, whether you’re a die-hard EDM raver, jazz enthusiast or 80’s fanatic, we’ll have just the music festival for you, set in some of the most idyllic destinations in the UK. Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth (19th - 21st May) 

This annual three-day music festival brings Dartmouth alive with acts performing at a variety of venues throughout the colourful town. Dart Music Festival is an extremely popular event and it’s even free!  

Sidmouth International Jazz & Blues Festival, Sidmouth (25th – 29th May) 

The annual Jazz and Blues festival is held in venues throughout the picturesque seaside town of Sidmouth. Local, national and international artists join in for a weekend of musical fun in this beautiful regency town alongside various street food vendors and plenty of spotys to grab a pint or two!. 

Let’s Rock Exeter, Kenton (1st July) 

If you’re a fan of the 80’s then this one’s for you! Set in the grounds of Powderham Castle, Let’s Rock Exeter boasts a stunning line up of well-known artists to take you right back to the retro era, a jam-packed neon day out! 

Chagstock, Chagford (21st – 22nd July) 

Taking place on the breath-taking landscape of Dartmoor National Park, Chagstock combines idyllic surroundings with great music and a friendly atmosphere. Well-known artists take to the stages alongside local acts and other performers to deliver a beautiful weekend. 

Tunes on the Sand, Blackpool Sands (21st – 22nd July) 

Set on the beautiful golden sands of Blackpool Sands, it’s hard to find a festival with a more gorgeous backdrop. Sister festival to Tunes on the Dunes in Cornwall, this festival has previously featured a great range of artists such as The Wailers, The Hoosiers, UB40 and KT Tunstall. So far, they’ve announced Sister Sledge and a DJ set from Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet. 

Dartington International Summer School & Festival, Dartington (22nd July – 19th August) 

Over the course of four weeks, Dartington Hall opens its doors as a summer school for musicians during the daytime, and by night, the school is transformed into a music festival like no other with the professional tutors taking the stage and occasionally students as well. Altitude Festival, nr Cullompton (27th – 29th July) 

Surrounded by beautiful Devon countryside, Altitude Festival is a wonderful, intimate festival featuring an eclectic mix of live music and DJ’s from across the UK. As well as great music, you will also find bars selling local ales and cider, street food, children’s entertainers, and much more! 

Sidmouth Folk Festival, Sidmouth (1st – 11th August) 

Widely renowned as one of the oldest and best folk festivals in the UK, Sidmouth Folk Festival welcomes big name acts, dance displays and tens of thousands of visitors each year to the gorgeous coastal resort of Sidmouth. 

Beautiful Days, Ottery St Mary (18th – 20th August) 

Another award-winning South Devon festival, Beautiful Days is set at Escot Park, between Honiton and Exeter. An eclectic mix of musical acts and plenty of activities to enjoy over the course of three days, you will not leave disappointed. It’s likely that you’ve heard of this festival before as is one of the bigger festivals in South Devon, jammed packed with a weekend full of fun! 

1 Big Summer, Plymouth (26th – 27th August) 

Held on Plymouth Hoe, 1 Big Summer offers an eclectic range of music across the weekend. Last year the festival occurred across the Jubilee Weekend and featured artists such as Example, Years & Years and The Libertines. Their 2023 line up is yet to be announced but we reckon it’ll be a just as good!
