Easter is a great time of year to visit South Devon whether its for a romantic trip or a break away with friends. You'll find some amazing events taking that are perfect to help you make the most of the time in the region. But don’t worry if you’re not visiting with children, as not every event being held this Easter is aimed solely at the little ones.
Here are some of great events taking place in South Devon this Easter.
Racing at Newton Abbot Racecourse, 4th April and 15th April
The start of a new racing season kicks off at Newton Abbot Racecourse on the 4th April. The racing can be enjoyed from either the Paddock Enclosure or the Course Enclosure.
Evening Paddle by Canoe, 6th April, 9th April, 11th April
Join us for a magical evening on the River Dart! The evening paddle by canoe is an opportunity to have an unusual evening where you slow down and experience the natural world on the water as it moves from day to night. The fading light... bird-sound, silence, bats, moonlight, darkness. No previous canoeing experience required.
Spring Garden Walks at Coleton Fishacre, 7th and 14th April
Would you like to find out more about the garden and see the best bits as it bursts into life this spring? A member of the garden team will be leading a free walk and talk focusing on the history of the garden and the spring highlights.
Grinagog Music Festival, 7th – 9th April
The Grinagog Music Festival a new festival bringing together some of the biggest names from your favourite genres alongside a handpicked selection of local musical talent.
Budleigh Salterton Food and Drink Festival, 8th – 9th April
Now in its 3rd year The Budleigh Food and Drink Festival is a great fun filled two day event celebrating the best of East Devon food and drink. Throughout the weekend there will be food demos, talks and workshops in the public hall, a local Real Ale Festival, kids craft, shows and live music in the entertainment marquee and much more.
Westpoint- South West Home & Garden show, 8th -9th April
The Southwest Home & Garden Show is the region’s leading home and garden events which specialises brings together the best of the regions interiors, garden, renewables, self-build and lifestyle products and services all under one roof for public and trade visitors.
Dartmouth Farmers Market, 8th April
South Hams Farmers Markets Dartmouth. Local produce for local people from a local source. The Old Market Square every second Saturday in the month. 9am to 1pm
Family Day at Exeter Racecourse, 11th April
Enjoy some fantastic racing at Exeter Racecourse Family Day, kids are free and its one the track's busiest and most action-packed days of the year. Take a peek behind the scenes with former jockey Ollie McPhail, learn about what happens in the weighing room and ask jockeys questions about the sport.
Beginners Photography Course at The Donkey Sanctuary, 12th April
Become a wizard behind the lens and take part in The Donkey Sanctuary's great value photography course, run by local professional photographer, Marion Frances. The Donkey Sanctuary will also be holding Intermediate Photography Courses on 18th April and 8th August, as well as a repeat Beginners' Photography Course on 2nd August. Places are limited so please contact The Donkey Sanctuary's Events Team as soon as possible to secure your place.
Easter Heritage Gala at South Devon Railway, 14th -17th April
EASTER HERITAGE GALA Steam and heritage diesel trains, vintage cars (Sunday & Monday)and commercial vehicles – come and take a step back in time. And there’s an Easter Egg Hunt for the children.
Gin Festival, 14th-15th April
The UK's biggest and oldest Gin Festival is coming to The Riviera International Centre for our first ever event in Devon. We'll be serving up over 100 different gins (including many new and exclusive gins) plus, new brands, cocktails and masterclasses from industry experts! THIS EVENT IS STRICTLY OVER 18'S ONLY (ID MAY BE REQUIRED)
