Celebrate the festive season by making a traditional kissing ball adorned with lush, classic Christmas foliage. Hang in your porch as an alternative to a door wreath, or in a bay window, a hallway or above a mantle for something different.
Originally hung to render blessing and good luck to all who pass underneath. In Tutor times they were made with intertwining hoops covered with evergreens including holly, bay and mistletoe. In Victorian times it developed into a more elaborate design including herbs, Rosemary and lavender signified loyalty and devotion, thyme promoted courage and mistletoe brought good fortune and fertility along with decorations of ribbons and plants.
