Dotted around our intimately beautiful estate are 69 sculptures created by more than 20 sculptors from around the country. Each stands proud and resolute, happily positioned amongst their surroundings to provide guests with a unique experience to appreciate not just the natural beauty of our grounds, but also of these strikingly poignant and beautiful constructions.
The sculpture trail includes work by the late sculptor Paul Harvey. Paul's contemporary style was born from his very early beginnings and was latterly influenced by Art Deco. His need to simplify form drew him to working in marble and bronze as these materials allowed him the opportunity for more freedom in terms of design.
Sarah Harvey (wife of the late Paul Harvey) will lead this tour and discuss Paul's work.

Artist Bio
Paul Harvey's beautiful bird sculpture has been exhibited widely in galleries, sculpture parks and at prestigious events throughout the U.K. such as the Chelsea Flower Show. The artist's contemporary, art deco inspired creations have been sold to the Royal family and have also attract clientele worldwide.
Paul's studio is set in the middle of the Hampshire countryside on the edge of a half-acre pond. Over a period of many years, he and his wife Sarah worked together to create a small nature reserve where Paul could observe the birds he sculpts in their natural habitat. The site was formally the old watercress beds for the Earl of Carnarvon's Highclere estate (Downton Abbey fame) and is a 3-acre glade surrounded by agriculture.
Paul sculpted since the age of ten, having been introduced to woodcarving at primary school. A pheasant is one of his earliest creations carved out of mahogany which demonstrates how his contemporary take on birds started to develop at an early age.
Rather than go down the recognised avenue many of his contemporaries have followed, that of limited edition bronzes, Paul saw an opportunity for the same standard of work, but making it affordable, using "cold cast resins": bronze, copper, iron and marble. He also developed many of the patinas that usually preserve of pure bronzes, so that they can be used on cold cast bronze, opening up a never ending variety of finishes that allowed him to add many more birds to this collection. All works are made using either resin or cement, combined with marble or metal to achieve different effects and finishes, all the finishes are for outside or inside and require little maintenance to remain in their original condition. All of Paul's sculpture is open edition, apart from his bronzes which are limited edition.
Sadly, Paul Harvey, who was suffering from a cancerous brain tumour, passed away peacefully on June 14th 2023. His wife Sarah Harvey and his family continue to run the business 'Paul Harvey Sculpture' to ensure his beautiful sculptures live on.
