MANIC
Winner of Best Solo Show at Fuse International, 2022.

When Raina arrives at her spoken word gig to see her exes in the audience, all the questions she's had about her past sexual experiences begin to surface.

Through poetry, comedy and one very awkward encounter with a cheese string, she begins to explore questions about bad sex, drunk sex and the grey areas of consent.

Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heart-breaking, Manic is a solo show that combines poetry, puppetry and theatre to ask whether it is possible to say you were violated without implicating a partner.

The evening will be introduced with a poetry performance by Ceri Baker.

Ceri Baker is an eclectic mash up of rhythmic frames to life's poetic eruption. Coming from a 'f*ck it' place following life changing medical trauma, she stitches feminist rage into body autonomy glee and procreative recovery. Mixing humour, anecdote and moving autobiographical content, she carefully regifts relatable stories allowing us to breathe out, where we might have been holding in.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Raina Greifer (she/they) is a Bristol-based theatre maker and producer interested in exploring themes around sex, consent, and grief. Her work uses puppetry, poetry, and comedy, often examining the intersection between the personal and political. They were shortlisted for the SH24: Sexual Health Awards 2022 as Young Person of the Year and were a BBC Words First Finalist in 2021. Her solo show MANIC won Best Solo Show at Fuse International in 2022 and will be touring across the UK in 2023.
