Haldon Big Forest Find

Forestry England ecologists and Devon wildlife experts invite families, wildlife enthusiasts and seasoned naturalists to join The Big Forest Find at Haldon Forest Park on Saturday 18th of May. The Big Forest Find is England's largest survey of forest wildlife, and is happening as part of Forestry England's year-long centenary celebrations. The Big Forest Find offers visitors the chance to learn more about the species that live and breed in and around Haldon Forest.
Take part in FREE guided wildlife walks, explore the forest as a family with self-guided activity sheets, and discover more about the exciting work of local conservation and wildlife groups at the event hub near The Ridge café. There will be the chance to help experts identify the moths caught live overnight and improve your identification skills.

Visitors to Haldon Forest Park can also get involved in the Big Forest Find in their own time, by downloading the free iNaturalist app and recording the wildlife they spot in the forest. From birds and butterflies to insects and plant life on the forest floor, the information recorded will help to paint a better picture of forest biodiversity today. These records will grow over time, helping Forestry England to better manage its forests for wildlife for generations to come.
