As part of the 'Intro to World Rhythms Series' at the Pavilions Teignmouth, we will be exploring some Puerto Rican Bomba drumming. Rooted in the African Diaspora, this style of drumming was originally used as a form of communication between tribes. Typically, the rhythms are played on toned barrel shaped drums which when played together create a melodic, rhythmic montange. It is vibrant and full of energy and you are guaranteed to be uplifted and leaving with a bounce in your step and a smile on your face.
The workshop is open to all including complete beginners and more experienced players. Age 8 - Adult (Participants need to be big enough to hold the drum)
Not only will you have great fun at the workshop in a kind, open and friendly environment but you will also recieve lots of resources including: video clips, notation and a recording of our final piece.
Tickets can be purchased at the Pavilions box office: https://www.pavilionsteignmouth.org.uk/events/intro-puerto-rican-bomba
£15 per session or £12.50 when buying three or more in one transaction
