Now in its 11th year, Brixham Fish Market Tours are back and still proving to be very popular. Early risers won’t want to miss the opportunity to get a fascinating insight into behind-the-scenes operations at England’s largest fish market.
We will show you the operational side of the daily fish auction process and give you the opportunity to see up to 40 different species of fish and get an insight into how this fascinating process works. We will give you an insight into understanding of what’s involved in getting the fish from sea to plate, learn about day boats & trawlers, and there may even be a chance to see some grey seals which often frequent the harbour side!
To finish off the morning, we will top it up with a delicious fish breakfast at Mitch Tonks’ Rockfish restaurant, situated right next door.
The tours are very popular and with only 30 people on each session, we recommend that you book well in advance.

The Pre-Tour Routine
Prior to the tour, we will meet at 6:20am outside the fish market gates, at the blue tower in front of the Rockfish restaurant. We will walk up to Brixham Trawler Agents (BTA) offices to be kitted out with protective equipment (white coats, boot covers and a hair net).
Tour guides will introduce themselves and provide you with an overview of BTA, its role in the operation of the fish market, and answer any questions you may have. We will then start the tour of the fish market.
Please be aware that we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs or children under the age of 14yrs.
The fish market is a refrigerated area so be sure to wear warm clothing.
to the tour.

Follow signs to Brixham along the A3022. The best option is to park in the centre of town, or at Oxen Cove car park. For Oxen Cove, follow signs for the harbourside. Carry straight on at the Old Market House junction, then follow the road past the fish market and up the hill. As the hill curves round, take the right hand turn. Oxen Cove is at the bottom of this road and a footpath leads from the far end of the car park back towards the fish market.

The number 12 bus serves Brixham from Torquay, Paignton and Newton Abbot. From the bus station, walk to the harbour and follow the harbour to the left. The fish market is at the far left end.
