Last week we were invited to Thurlestone Hotel to sample all that the hotel has to offer. It was a luxurious and relaxing experience, perfect for anyone wanting to spend the day unwinding and escaping the stresses of everyday life.

Thurlestone Hotel is situated in the coastal village on Thurlestone, around 6 miles and a short drive from the estuary town of Kingsbridge. The village is quaint, with thatched cottages and 2 glorious beaches; Thurlestone Beach (which leads onto South Milton Sands) and Leas Foot Beach, making it a popular destination for visitors wanting to feel the sand between their toes! With its rolling hills, rugged cliffs and breathtaking views of the sea, the surrounding area is a haven for nature lovers and those seeking peace and tranquillity.

Thurlestone Hotel sits high above sea level with panoramic, sweeping views of the coastline and is complete with a spa, restaurant, access to a golf course and even a pub! It’s interior exudes luxury with its lavishly appointed features and Art Deco-style furniture. From the moment you step into the hotel, you are greeted with an air of elegance and sophistication.

To kick start the day we enjoyed a coffee on the terrace and soaked up the views. Then we toured the hotel; visiting the outdoor pool, the restaurant and even one of the sea view bedrooms.

The hotel boasts a variety of luxurious rooms and suites, all designed with comfort and style in mind. Whether you choose a room with a sea view or an inland room, you'll be treated to modern amenities, plush furnishings and thoughtful touches that make your stay extra special. Each room has been tastefully decorated to reflect the natural beauty of the surrounding area, with soft, coastal tones and large windows that allow the stunning landscape to take centre stage. The dog-friendly rooms even come with a doggy goody bag complete with a tennis ball, treats and more!

After exploring, we ventured down towards the changing rooms, changed into our swimsuits and walked into the Voyage Spa. The sights and sounds of the spa instantly offer a sense of calmness; the warm atmosphere, the sound of tricking water and the sweet aroma of essential oils is a journey for all the senses.

Offering an extensive range of facilities, large indoor pool, a sauna, steam room, laconium, hydrotherapy pool, treatment rooms and relaxation area, it’s the perfect place to unwind and rejuvenate.

For an even deeper relaxation, the spa offers a variety of bespoke treatments, ranging from luxurious facials to invigorating massages, all designed by expert therapists who tailor each session to your specific needs. Whether you're looking to ease muscle tension, rejuvenate your skin or simply unwind after a day of exploring, the treatments at Voyage Spa are designed to deliver total relaxation.

What truly sets the spa apart is its attention to detail. From the carefully curated products used in the treatments to the calm and peaceful environment, every aspect of the spa experience is crafted to help you recharge.

We were offered a complimentary facial which felt like the cherry on top of an already amazing spa day. The facials at Voyage Spa are designed using high-quality products from brands like Elemis, renowned for their natural, skin-loving ingredients. Whether you're looking to hydrate dry skin, rejuvenate tired eyes, or enhance your natural glow, the therapists ensure that your facial is perfectly tailored to your skin’s needs. Before you sink into the treatment chair, the facial begins with a thorough analysis. The expert therapist then selects a blend of nourishing cleansers, serums and moisturisers to target your skin concerns. From the gentle massage to the refreshing products, every step of the treatment works to leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and radiant.

If you’re feeling more energetic, the spa also boasts a well-equipped gym with the latest fitness equipment, allowing you to maintain your workout routine. For a breath of fresh air, you can take advantage of the outdoor tennis courts, play a round of golf on the hotel's 9-hole golf course, or take a refreshing dip in the outdoor heated pool.

After our treatment, we decided it was time for some food. Thurlestone Hotel offer a variety of places to dine; the hotel’s main restaurant, the Trevilder Restaurant, offers a fine dining experience that showcases the very best of local produce. With an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients, the menu is a celebration of Devon’s rich bounty. It’s located in the main hotel and offers unbeatable views of the rolling hills and sea out of its floor to ceiling windows.

Meanwhile the Terrace Bar, where we enjoyed a coffee in the morning, offers a more relaxed dining experience, whilst also serving up delicious local food. You can sit inside the lounge or out on the terrace and enjoy a light bite, or a refreshing drink. We decided to grab a bite to eat here as we wanted a more comforting atmosphere after our calming treatments. We opted for a prawn sandwich and a vegan burger, which was tasty and filling, plus the hotel staff also treated us to complimentary cocktails; a passionfruit martini and a mojito, both of which were refreshing and delicious!

The third option is the Village Inn, a pub that sits outside of the hotel and offers everything you could hope for in a charming pub. The Village Inn provides a cosy atmosphere, with its nautical décor paying homage to Devon's maritime history and serves an array of traditional pub fare, with a modern twist.

After our meal, with bellies full and soothed skin, we decided it was about time to head home. We had a thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing day, and would recommend a trip to Thurlestone Hotel to anyone wanting to experience a break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family holiday or simple a solo treat, Thurlestone Hotel has something special to offer. And don’t worry if you’re not a guest at the hotel, all the amenities are offered to non-residents too, just remember to pre-book to avoid disappointment.
