four red jet planes in mid air

Throughout the year there are many air shows that take place in the UK and Devon is not short of them! With beautiful scenery and plenty of activities to get involved with, why wouldn’t you visit the region to witness one of these incredible displays? Read on to find out where in Devon you can catch an Air Show this year.

English Riviera Air Show, Paignton (3rd & 4th June)

The English Riviera Air Show will take over Paignton Seafront on the 3rd and 4th June for a fantastic family-friendly weekend of festivities.

It’s hard to name a better location for an air show than Torbay; and it’s potentially the most impressive in the UK with some of Devon’s best beaches providing a stunning backdrop and stage for the performance.

Events will be centred around Paignton Green with free family entertainment including exhibition stands, display teams, bouncy castles, inflatable slides and fair ground rides.

Some of the best local food and drink producers will be in attendance offering tantalising meals and drinks to purchase whilst enjoying the day’s amusements, plus we’ll see the return of the SkyBar which will be providing all-star evening entertainment. Classic Motown, Northern-Soul and a dash of 70s disco funk can be expected throughout the evening.

If you’re interested in watching the air display away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Paignton Green, there’s a number of other places to catch it. Daddyhole Plain, Beacon Quay, Meadfoot Beach and Thatcher Point in Torquay are recommended, as well as Berry Head in Brixham.

Teignmouth Air Show, Teignmouth (30th June – 2nd July)

Held on the first weekend in July, the inaugural Teignmouth Air Show occurred in 2019 and since then it’s been growing in size and popularity. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 shows were cancelled but their 2022 event was a huge hit, and we’re positive that this year will be even better.

This year the Teignmouth Air Show will start on the 30th June with live music from top tribute artists, followed by an air show display on the 1st and a classic car day on 2nd July with live music throughout.

The Red Arrows, Typhoon and Lancaster’s will all be in attendance for the air show display and it’s said to be the biggest free event in Teignbridge this year!

RAF Harrowbeer 1940s Weekend, Yelverton (19th & 20th August)

RAF Harrrowbeer is a former WWII Fighter Airfield in Yelverton and the 1940s weekender kicked off in 2011 as a one-off 70th anniversary event for the opening of the airfield. The event proved to be so popular that after a short one-year hiatus, it’s become a yearly event.

This free-to-visit event kicks off with a short remembrance service before a weekend of fantastic live music, vintage bus and steam engine rides, vehicle displays and much more!

You can expect to find an array of fantastic refreshments with a number of local producers to choose from plus other stalls trading antiques, memorabilia and books.

Yelverton is a large village on the south-western edge of Dartmoor, you can find places to stay near Dartmoor here.

Sidmouth Regatta and Air Show, Sidmouth (25th & 26th August)

Sidmouth’s Regatta and Air Show is one of the annual highlights of the town. Thousands of people flock from far and wide to attend the extraordinary event during the August bank holiday.

Held from Friday 25th August this year, the Regatta and Air Show kicks off with a funfair and demonstrations and as the evening draws in the Red Arrows, a Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire will take to the air above the beautiful Lyme Bay to entertain the crowds alongside a line-up of several other exciting teams.

The Saturday will see the Regatta start with races from a variety of clubs as well as family-friendly activities and performances. The festivities will end with a fantastic firework display at Port Royal.
