Bonfire Night is a great excuse to get outside with your family and friends, bask in the atmosphere of the fireworks and enjoy some tasty local food and drink. If you’re wondering where to celebrate bonfire night this year, take a read of our extensive list below.
Woodbury Park, Exeter (28th October)
Woodbury Park’s annual firework display is back! Alongside the fireworks will be food stalls, family entertainment and plenty more to enjoy. Parking is available here and only food purchased on site will be allowed. Please note that this is a ticketed event so please make sure to purchase one beforehand.
North Tawton Rugby Club, North Tawton, nr Okehampton (28th October)
Situated on the River Taw and north of Okehampton, North Tawton will be showcasing their annual firework display at the North Tawton Rugby Club on 28th October from 7pm. You can head down earlier if you’d like to join in on their Halloween family disco from 4pm – 6pm. Tickets for both events can be purchased online in advance on from the gate on the day of the event. Please be aware that parking will be limited so car share if you can or use public transport.
Offwell Recreation Ground, Honiton (29th October)
Situated a short drive from Honiton, Offwell Village Hall will be hosting their annual bonfire and fireworks event on Saturday 29th October. They’ll have a BBQ, a bar and bouncy castle for visitors to partake in.
Teignmouth and Shaldon Firework Display, The Point, Teignmouth (29th October)
Due to high tides on the weekend of Bonfire Night, Teignmouth and Shaldon firework display will take place the weekend before on the 29th October. See the Harry Potter themed bonfire on Shaldon Beach followed by fireworks set off at The Point in Teignmouth. As the theme for this year is Harry Potter, you’re invited to create some wizarding Guys for the bonfire, and you’re welcome to contribute clean wood for the bonfire. This event is free to attend so it’s the perfect family night out! As the event will be very popular, it’s recommended to travel here via public transport to avoid congestion, but there will be free parking at Morrisons in Broadmeadow if you do need to use a car.
Winslade Manor, Exeter (Tuesday 3rd Nov)
Winslade Manor have pulled out all the stops to create an incredible, family friendly night of fireworks, live music, DJ’s, an after party and excellent food and drink. The fireworks will be run by professional pyrotechnicians, Whisper, to the soundtrack of ‘The Greatest Showman.” There’s lots of parking available and tickets should be purchased beforehand, but you ought to be quick as this event will sell out!
Cullompton Rugby Club, Cullompton (4th November)
Cullompton are hosting their firework night display with fireworks from the British Fireworks Champtions Sonic Fireworks at Cullompton Rugby Club the day before Bonfire Night on Friday 4th November. Entry can be paid on the gates in cash and there will also be a bar and food available to purchase to keep you nice and toasty!
Moretonhampstead Sports & Community Centre, Dartmoor (4th November)
If you’re looking for fireworks on Dartmoor, why not head to the Moretonhampstead firework display on Friday 4th November. It’s their first event since the pandemic so they’re eager to welcome you back. The event will take place at the Sports and Community Centre at the top of the town and food will be provided by Neadon kitchen, as well as having a fully licensed bar. Free parking is available on site, but it’s limited so arrive early to ensure a space. Tickets for this event can be purchased on the gates.
Collaton Cross, Newton Ferrers & Noss Mayo (4th November)
Newton Ferrers Primary school will be hosting their annual fireworks display at Collaton Cross to raise money to improve the outside learning/play area at the local primary school. They’ll also have a great choice of food from World Pizza, Jitjah Thai and The Real Pig Company. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite, at The Dolphin, Tubbs Pharmacy or on the gates.
Exmouth RNLI Fireworks at Exmouth Rugby Club, Exmouth (4th Nov)
East Devon’s largest firework display will take place in aid of Exmouth RNLI at Exmouth Rugby Club near the beach on Friday 4th November. Catch the fireworks from out at sea with a Stuart Line Cruise trip. You’ll be able to stay warm on their heated lower deck or sit up top with a blanket. They’ll also offer pasties, organic soup and hot drinks to keep you toasty!
Whimple Cricket Club, Exeter (5th Nov)
Whimple Cricket Club’s firework show will be provided by Sonic Fireworks and promises to be one of the best fireworks displays in Devon this year! There will be a bar and food stalls available plus a clubhouse disco! Parking is limited so walking or taking public transport is recommended and tickets must be purchased prior to the event.
Charity Fireworks Extravaganza, Westpoint, Exeter (5th Nov)
Hosted by the Exeter Round Table charity, Westpoint will be running their Charity Fireworks Extravaganza on Bonfire Night with Sonic, creating a display to music by Radio Exe. Not only will there be a fantastic display, you can also expect funfair rides, various catering outlets and bars. Tickets must be purchased in advance and free parking will be available.
Fireworks and Tar Barrels, Ottery St Mary (5th Nov)
Ottery St Mary is pretty renowned for its Tar Barrels event which happens every year on Bonfire night. Tar Barrels can be seen rolling through the town or even on top of people’s heads - It’s a truly unique sight! If you fancy catching this tradition, head to the town on 5th November. This event is free to watch; please note that parking is available, but the event is not suitable for small children, animals or people with limited mobility.
Sidbury Manor, Sidmouth (5th November)
Located north of Sidmouth is Sidbury Manor. On bonfire night they’ll be hosting a huge aerial firework display set within the grounds of the manor, plus a bonfire with fire performers, music from conscious club, a licenced bar, a pig roast and a BBQ. You can purchase tickets in advance online or from Drews of Sidbury, The Red Lion Sidbury, Sidmouth Post Office or Vinnicombe’s Bakery. You can also purchase them on the day at the gate.
Templeton Village Hall, Tiverton (5th November)
Templeton’s annual firework display and bonfire will take place at the Village Hall on Saturday 5th November. If you’re feeling up to it, why not enter their Guy Fawkes competition! There will be a bar, hot dogs and hot drinks available to buy and tickets will be available on the gates.
Fireworks & Music Festival, Tiverton Golf Course, Tiverton (5th November)
Head down to Tiverton on bonfire night for the Tiverton Golf Club’s annual Firework and Music Festival. Their dazzling firework display has been set to music by Sonic Fireworks, plus live bands will play in the marquee from 8pm. There will also be a kids disco and inflatables such as a bouncy castle for your little ones to let of some steam and partake in the festivities. Plus, there’ll be an outdoor bar and a food village to enjoy some tasty treats and beverages.
Plymouth Hoe, Plymouth (5th November)
Plymouth’s spectacular bonfire night celebration is an excellent, free way to spend the most explosive night of the year. As well as the firework display and bonfire by The Royal Citadel, they’ll also have fairground rides and stage entertainment from 4pm, plus a variety of food stalls to grab a bite to eat. There’s plenty of parking available in Plymouth or you could catch the bus or train here.
Newton Abbot Rugby Club, Newton Abbot (5th November)
Newton Abbot Rugby Club’s fireworks night returns for another year, with the display run by Sonic Fireworks. There’s lots of great activities to partake in on the night such as axe throwing by South West Adventures, live music on the outside stage and in the marquee, plus a huge variety of food such as burgers, pizzas and even south-east Asian dishes. Tickets can be purchased prior to the event on the rugby club’s website and parking must also be booked in advanced too.
The White Horn, Bickleigh, nr Plymouth (5th November)
Located north east of Plymouth in Bickleigh, The White Thorn will be hosting their fantastic Bonfire Night event with fireworks, an outside BBQ, plenty of drinks and live music inside after the display. They’ve taken a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, but they’re eager to welcome you back this year.
