Devon has long been hailed as one of the most picturesque areas in the UK, and with good reason. It has stunning coastlines, rolling hills, and crystal-clear waters, offering plenty of opportunities for photographers of all skill levels.

If you want to add something a little different to your photo album this year, look no further. This article lists five of the best locations in Devon for photographers and provides some handy tips for capturing the perfect shot.

1. Start Point Lighthouse

An excellent point to start your journey is at the Start Point Lighthouse near Dartmouth. This iconic landmark has guided sailors through the English Channel since 1836 and is now a popular tourist attraction.

From the lighthouse, there are stunning views of the coastline and the river Dart below. Also, several walks nearby take you through various spectacular landscapes, including divots, slopes, and rocky coastlines.

For the ultimate photography experience, try visiting at sunrise or sunset and capture the iconic lighthouse in all its glory. You can also head to the top deck and take in the fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding area.

2. Hartland Quay

Situated on the Atlantic coast of Devon, Hartland Quay was built in the 16th century through the influence of famous individuals like Sir Walter Raleigh and Sir Francis Drake. Thanks to its beautiful and rugged coastline, it is now a popular tourist spot that has been featured in popular movies and shows, including Rebecca and The War Zone.

To capture the perfect shot of the Hartland Quay, you can climb to the top of its high jagged cliffs and take all the beautiful views below. Alternatively, you could head to one of the nearby rock pools or sand caves and get shots of the calm sea surrounded by dramatic rock formations.

3. Wembury Beach

Wembury Beach is the perfect place if you are looking for a more tranquil setting to take photos. Its soft golden sands, rock pools, and crystal-clear waters form a beautiful backdrop for any picture.

Wembury Church also sits on the beach's edge and can serve as an excellent subject for your photographs. The church was built in 1088 and features an exciting mix of architectural designs, from Norman to Gothic.

You can snap stunning photos at Wembury Beach any time of the year. However, if you want to capture the best view, plan your visit just before sunset when the colors of the sky are unique.

4. The Daymark – Kingswear's Tower

The beautiful Daymark is a 19th-century building located in Kingswear, Devon. It sits on a private arable field, so you must check in advance if it is open to the public before planning a visit.

However, the tower has a footpath dedicated to public use, so it's easy to access. Try to stick to this track when visiting to avoid damaging the crops.

You can get some fantastic pictures at the Daymark thanks to its distinctive round shape and beautiful crop surrounding. And if you want to capture some perfect night shots, wait until the sun sets and the stars start to appear.

Make Your Devon Photos Stand Out with Color Replacement Tool

Capturing beautiful scenery in Devon is an incredible experience. But to get your photos to stand out, you need to edit them with a color replacement tool and ensure their colors complement the scene you want to showcase.

Fortunately, if you don't know how to change colors in a photo, you can still learn the skill quickly using an image editing tool.

What a Color Replacement Tool Can Do for You

A color replacement tool allows you to replace any color in your photos with another of your choice. You can use it to edit the sky's color, delete unpleasant background in an image, or even add an unnatural shade to your photos, creating impossible scenes in life.
