Teignmouth, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren are all popular seaside resorts in the district of Teignbridge in South Devon. The three towns offer fantastic coastal walking routes for visitors to enjoy. Below you will find five different coastal walks that all include one of these stunning waterside communities as their start or end points. Dawlish to Dawlish Warren
Joined by a sea wall, the walk from Dawlish to Dawlish Warren is a flat and easy route for all ages to enjoy. You can either walk alongside the railway which is part of the Riviera Line by the sea wall, or when the tide is right, along the beach. Once at Dawlish Warren, there are plenty of places to stop for refreshments and the beautiful Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve to explore. You can also make your way to the Point at the end of Dawlish Warren; this offers exceptional views over the Exe Estuary toward Exmouth. Dawlish to Teignmouth
Dawlish and Teignmouth lay alongside each other on the South Devon coast and are both home to fantastic family friendly beaches. Walking from Dawlish to Teignmouth provides wonderful views of the dramatic coastline between the two towns and an opportunity to take it all in. The walk itself follows the South West Coast Path as well as a few sections alongside some roads; some parts of the walk also have steep segments so it’s worth bearing this in mind as it wouldn’t be suitable for those with limited mobility. Exeter to Dawlish Warren
Exeter is a vibrant city which boasts lots of historical landmarks and the walk to Dawlish Warren passes beautiful sights along the way. Starting at Exeter Quay, the first segment of this walk is part of the Exe Valley Way and takes you alongside the canal and River Exe. After passing Powderham Castle you will reach Starcross where the route joins the South West Coast Path and offers magnificent views as you head toward the coastal resort of Dawlish Warren. Teignmouth to Torquay
Walking from the pretty seaside town of Teignmouth to the lively English Riviera Resort of Torquay provides the opportunity to pass by some gorgeous beaches and covers some splendid coastline. From Teignmouth you will cross the River Teign to Shaldon and the path takes you over cliffs toward Maidencombe and Babbacombe. There are plenty of magical beaches and coves to gaze upon as you make your way to Torquay. Teignmouth to Dawlish
Following the famously picturesque Riviera Line and the reverse of the walk from Dawlish to Teignmouth, this route contains some hilly parts. Both Teignmouth and Dawlish are great for family days out and a walk between the two is a great way to keep little ones active, with the promise of an ice cream at the end!
