The late May Bank Holiday (also known as Whitsun and Spring Bank Holiday) is fast approaching us and with the first May Bank Holiday gracing us with such beautiful weather it’s got us very much looking forward to it! There are lots of fantastic events happening across the region during the half term break and plenty going on over the bank holiday weekend in South Devon for you to get excited about. Below is a list of some of the top events going on throughout South Devon to help you plan your break.
Spring Beer Festival at South Devon Railway (25th May – 28th May)
A fun-filled family day out with a real ale festival at South Devon Railway's Staverton Station. Steam and heritage diesel services will be running throughout the three days between Buckfastleigh Station and Totnes Station. Exmouth Festival (25th May – 3rd June)
Taking place across the town of Exmouth in various locations, Exmouth Festival starts with a bang over the bank holiday weekend and the fun continues on until the 3rd of June. The Enchanted Woodland Day (26th May)
Held at Greenway Estate, a National Trust property in Galmpton, near Brixham. Join the woodland folk in games, animal-themed crafts and activities between 2pm and 4pm amongst the captivating scenery. If you would like to learn more about The Enchanted Woodland Day, please click here.
BrixFest (26th May – 30th May)
BrixFest returns to Brixham in Torbay over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend and continues for a couple of days afterwards. Visitors can expect music and plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy. You can find out more about BrixFest in their guest blog post here.
Dawlish Arts Festival (26th May – 2nd June)
Dawlish Arts Festival is a weeklong festival taking place in Dawlish with lots for all to get involved in. Dinosaur Birthday Half Term Celebration (26th May – 3rd June)
Head to Torquay’s Dinosaur World with your little explorers this half term and join in with their 8 year anniversary celebrations. There will be presents for the young ones and a birthday card competition for them to enter as well as all the great full size and scale dinosaurs! Zooper Pooper Week (26th May – 3rd June)
During May half term at Paignton Zoo you can discover all about poo at the zoo with Zooper Pooper Week! There will be a ‘poo-dunnit?’ trail, ‘plop trumps’ and the chance to learn about how poo helps the keepers asses animal health and how wildlife experts use it to track animals. Unicorn Week & Summer Half Term at Pennywell Farm (26th May – 3rd June)
Summer Half Term at Pennywell Farm will see performances from Elfic the Juggler, Mr. Phil and Poco Drom as well as Fizz Pop Science Shows on the Thursday. Alongside this, it will be Unicorn Week at Pennywell where some magical creatures will be paying a visit and there will be plenty of unicorn themed fun! Beach Activity Trailer (26th May – 3rd June)
Spend some time during the summer half term to learn more about Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve with their Beach Activity Trailer. Spring Family Fun Day & Dog Show (27th May)
Make your way to The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth of the 27th of May for their Spring Family Fun Day and Dog Show. It will be action packed day of events with demonstrations, bouncy castles, live music, refreshments and of course the adorable donkeys! Prawle Fair (27th May)
Prawle Fair takes place in East Prawle, Kingsbridge on the 27th of May. It is a real community village event with lots of traditional attractions such as swing boats and raffles. Dartington Food Fair (27th May – 28th May)

Brick Kingdom at Powderham Castle (27th May – 3rd June)
Powderham Castle near Exeter welcomes LEGO® Brick Kingdom this half term where you can make ‘magical, medieval memories’. Family Fun Beach Day at Dawlish Warren (28th May)

Bank Holiday BBQ at Riverford Field Kitchen (28th May)

May Half Term Pirate Week at World of Country Life (28th May – 1st June)

Kingsbridge Food & Music Festival (1st June – 3rd June)
Kingsbridge Food and Music Festival is a three day event celebrating the best local food and sounds. Torbay Air Show (2nd June – 3rd June)
Returning once again to the English Riviera, Torbay Air Show promises spectacular displays from the Red Arrows and a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight marks the centenary of the RAF. Picnic at the Park (3rd June)
River Dart Country Park’s annual event, Picnic in the Park is back on Sunday the 3rd of June. A family friendly day out with a bunch of exciting activities and entertainment such as; a dog show, assault course, static vehicle display and so much more.
