With October half term and Halloween not far away we have put together a few of the scary activities taking place across South Devon which can keep your little witches and vampires amused. October half term is also your last chance to visit many attractions before they change to their winter opening times or close for the winter at the beginning of November. So combine visiting these great places with some of the spooky events listed below and ensure you have a frighteningly amazing time this October when visiting South Devon.

Dartmouth Food Festival 2015 23rd – 25th October

The Dartmouth Food Festival is back for 2015 with a tempting mix of delicious regional food and drink, chef demonstrations, workshops, lively food debates and fun for all the family.

Halloween Fun at Kents Cavern 24th October – 1st November

There’s lots to do over October Half Term at Kents Cavern with cave tours, spooky dig and the underground pumpkin hunt.

All-inclusive Half Term Fun at Becky Falls 24th October - 1st November

Pumpkin carving, scary snake shows (well....a bit scary!), biscuit decorating, scary scars and, of course, mischevious meerats - it's all happening at Becky Falls this October half term

Spook-tacular Activities this Halloween at Devon's Crealy! 24th October - 1st November

Snakes and Lanterns at Powderham Castle 25th October – 1st November

A thrilling half-term awaits at Powderham Castle. Children can follow the Pumpkin Trail to win their own pumpkin to carve in the Potting Shed. The braver ones can have a close encounter with Dartmoor Reptiles!

Halloween Evening of Mini Horrors 25th – 31st October

The Model Village takes on a spooky twist after dark. Featuring fire & light effects, Halloween scenes and the Workshop of Horrors Tour.

Hannah Super Spooky Halloween Treasure Hunt 26th October – 1st November

For half term Hannah’s at Seale-Hayne have hidden ten tiny Halloween-themed doors around the quad for children to hunt down, each with a spooky ink stamp inside. Collect them all to win a sweet treat.

Jollyween at Pennywell 27th – 30th October

A whole week of treats without the tricks, pumpkins to carve and take home, pumpkin games and competitions and the last animal cuddles of the season can be enjoyed at Pennywell during half term.

A Company of Wolves at Haldon Forest Park 29th – 31st October

The Forestry Commission’s Haldon Forest Park will be hosting a theatre show with a difference this Halloween. Theatre company Burn the Curtain will be performing their exciting outdoor show – The Company of Wolves – on the 29th, 30th and 31st of October. Tickets are on sale now from the Forestry Commission box office.

The Big Draw – free family fun day at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen 29th – 30th October

Join the National Campaign for Drawing and come to our family fun days with creative activities inspired by artist Michael Honnor’s exhibition of giant landscape prints, and this year's Big Draw theme 'Every Drawing Tells A Story'.

Children’s Hospice South West – Halloween Fayre in Dartmouth 31st October

Between 10am to 4pm at the The Old Market, Dartmouth you’ll find lots of stalls including toffee apples, popcorn, soup, cakes, books, lucky dip, jewellery, apple bobbing, Christmas cards, candles, toiletries and gifts, all accompanied by face painting, music and a Halloween fancy dress competition!
