With a Bank Holiday and Half Term just a few weeks away its the perfect time to start planning your days out and visit to South Devon.

Devon County Show, 21st – 23rd May

Every year thousands of people visit the Devon County Show, an agricultural event that has evolved into what is probably the best showcase of everything Devon has to offer – from fashion to farming, live music to food and drink. The entire event is centred on country life – with some of the best examples of British livestock, farm produce and farm products in a variety of competitions and shows.

Ashburton Blues Festival, 22nd – 24th May

Three nights and two days of non-stop music, workshops, jam sessions, local food and drink and Real Ales.

Dartmouth Galleries Week, 22nd – 29th May

Wander from gallery to gallery seeing work from new and established artists at a wide range of prices. Approximately 12 galleries throughout Dartmouth will be launching new exhibitions.

Pirate Week at Powderham Castle, 24th – 31st May

Captain Jack and the crew of the “The Rusty Pocketwatch” will make the journey from the Caribbean early this year – they are looking for new crew members so why not put on that bandana and see if you have what it takes to be a pirate!

Dartington Food Fair, 24th-25th May

Celebrating the best of Devon’s incredible produce and held in association with Food & Drink Devon, it’s the 5th anniversary of this very popular event. During the weekend there’ll be fun for the whole family with local food heroes, workshops, Alice in Wonderland inspired children’s activities and competitions to enter.

Jungle Jim Visits Devon’s Crealy, 25th May

The Jungle Jim Roadshow is a unique show for children and adults of all ages 0-100! This half term Jungle Jim, professional ventriloquist Jimmy Tamley, creates a "Rumble in the Jungle" with all his Jungle friends at Devon’s Crealy.

Smugglers and Sea Dogs, Dartmouth Castle, 26th – 29th May

Meet the scourge of the sea as we explore Dartmouth’s dastardly past. Budding young buccaneers can join a quest to find the smugglers’ ill-gotten gains and command their own pirate sloop in ship to ship combat. Plus discover the weapons which made the golden age of piracy so fearsome. Parrots optional…

Free Paper Mache Workshop, Devon Guild of Craftsmen, Bovey Tracey, 28th May

Help to make a wild animal sculpture from paper mache with artist-maker, Elizabeth Jardine. Free, family drop-in event. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Kingsbridge Food and Music Festival, 29th -31st May

This three day food and music extravaganza celebrates the eclectic mix of tastes and sounds that originate from Kingsbridge and the surrounding area.

Gnaton Hall Open Garden and Dog show, in aid of The British Red Cross, 30th May

Five acres of beautiful gardens that include woodland, lawned terraces, water and bog gardens, walled gardens, roses and magnolias. Delicious homemade cakes and teas will also be served.

Lemonfest, 30th May

Lemonfest is a one day music festival, which takes place at Newton Abbot Racecourse, Devon. The line-up so far includes: The Subways, Dub Pistols, DJ Yoda, Beans on Toast, 3 Daft Monkeys, Backbeat Soundsystem, Too Many T’s, Moriaty, Matthew & Me, Seven Cities, A$$munch, and King Tuts Revenge.
