Stylish, contemporary and unashamedly indulgent, the 5 Red Star Bovey Castle estate hides 22 three-storey self-catering country lodges within its grounds, perfect for your next private countryside escape. Each country lodge has three ensuite bedrooms, sleeping up to eight people in total (maximum six adults). They also have a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, oven, dishwasher, microwave and an open plan lounge and dining area, leading out on to a balcony with views over the grounds.
Opting to stay in one of our country lodges gives you the freedom to plan your holiday your way. Our fabulous kitchens will give the foodies amongst you the opportunity to get creative and plan a special dinner party or two. Our lodge lounges are complete with cosy fires and TVs, so you can pop a DVD on in the evening whilst relaxing with a glass of wine.
Nice weather? You can even have a BBQ out on your terrace – just ask us and we can organise you a BBQ pack full of local offerings.
Despite the fact that you are based in the grounds of Bovey Castle, the incredible thing about a break away in one of our lodges, is that you have the hotel on your doorstep. You can still pop up to see the falconry displays, get the children involved in collecting eggs from our chickens or use the spa.
Fashioned from local granite and vaulted with English oak, each property echoes the enduring character of Devon’s ancient moorlands. Our lodges are set in 275 acres of Dartmoor National Park with nature trails, river walks beside the River Bovey and a range of outdoor activities for you to enjoy. With lots of wide open spaces for you to explore, there’s endless countryside dog walking routes with breath-taking views. If you love the outdoors as much as us, Bovey Castle is the perfect place for you! There’s no need to leave the resort because you have access to all the resort facilities and we have family friendly activities available everyday including archery, air rifle shooting, bike hire, clay pigeon shooting, deer park tours, fly fishing and falconry. Or explore North Bovey and the surrounding villages on a majestic horse-drawn carriage ride.
When it comes to dining in your lodge, you have plenty of options, for example, choose one of our takeaway style menus delivered directly to your door cooked and ready to eat! Our lodge dining concepts are a no fuss, perfectly cooked and prepared selection choosing from family favourites through to our 'Indulgent Dining to Share' - Beef Wellington. If you prefer to cook for yourself why not opt for one of the pantry packs, perfect to enjoy from the comfort of your own lodge. If you fancy dining out, why not head up to the hotel and book a table in the award-winning Smith's Brasserie, or discover a captivating menu in our 'Tasting Room'.
