How to use freestanding woodwork machines correctly, safely and to best effect. Detailed training on the massive machines that most matter.
This course is about how to use freestanding woodwork machines correctly, safely and to best effect. Through demonstration and some hands-on experience, our expert tuition team will induct participants on the table saw, the planer thicknesser, the bandsaw, spindle moulder and/or router table. You'll be looking at the components of machines, how to change blades and bits, using machine jigs, maintenance, and of course, how to avoid damaging them (or you).
Are you are looking to invest in machinery and wanting some top-tips before having a go? Are you an occasional maker looking to up their game? Are you starting out on the road to become a professional maker and want to have an intro to the bigger kit? Or maybe you are a pro but been off the tools for a while? Either way, this might be the course for you. As you'll know, machines need to be handled with care and treated with respect!
This course is open to all levels of experience, but there is an assumed knowledge of the properties of wood and the effects of processing it. An interest in the detail of woodwork machines and techniques in machining is essential.
Please note that while our tutors are professionally trained to teach safe use of machinery, our courses do not carry the certification required by commercial organisations as evidence of machine competency.
