Sheep shearing demonstration at Peter Tavy Village Fayre

Opening Times

Sorry, this event has passed

Come and join us and enjoy entertainment for all ages at our annual Village Fayre in the centre of Peter Tavy on Bank Holiday Monday, 26th August 2024, opening at 2.00pm. Admission is just £1 per adult, 50p for 16 and under.

The church bells will ring out to announce the Fayre, and all around the Village Hall and Methodist Chapel you'll find games, stalls, refreshments and plenty more to entertain you.

Check out the "pre-loved bargains" on the Granny's Attic and Nearly-New Clothes; pick up a bargain or two from the Books; Plants and Garden; Home-made Cakes, and Jams & Preserves stalls. Or try your luck on the ever-popular Tombola stall or in the Grand Raffle (with a chance to win a meal for two at the Peter Tavy Inn).

Don't miss the chance to test your skills on the traditional coconut shy and skittle alley, or have fun on some of the many other unique and intriguing games. And remember to choose a likely-looking duck to back in the exciting Duck Race along the brook through the centre of the village.

Take a while to sit back with a cup of tea or coffee, and the scrumptious home-made cakes and savouries being served in the Chapel, or enjoy an ice cream. Then wander over to check out the entertainment, including a live demonstration of sheep shearing, or take a look at the displays of local talent in the entries for the wide range of village competitions.

Alongside the Fayre, the 21st running of the Peter Tavy Plod footrace and fun run will take place, starting at 1.00pm.

There's free parking – please follow the signs and stewards' directions to the parking areas.

Unfortunately, we don't have the facilities to accept card or phone payments, so please bring along a pocketful of old-fashioned cash!

The Fayre is a great family afternoon out - a slice of traditional village life in which the whole community gets involved. All the funds raised are in aid of Peter Tavy Village Hall, Church & Chapel.
