Sorry, this event has passed

The vintage bus running day gives visitors free rides over a network of authentic routes through the beautiful South Hams to coast and country destinations. Vehicles date from the 1930s to more modern times reminding passengers of the traditions and pleasures of public transport.
The event is put on by a registered charity, The Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust (TV&GWOT), as part of its mission to educate the public in the history of passenger road transport by experiencing the sights and sounds of bygone travel.
All journeys go out and back from Kingsbridge and passengers can choose from trips to South Pool & Sherford, Goveton, Frogmore, Bigbury on Sea, Salcombe, Hope Cove, Slapton, Thurlestone, Loddiswell (Station), Modbury, Totnes and Blackpool Sands.
The 52 page souvenir programme not only gives details of the day but includes newly researched articles and describes the restoration work undertaken by the Trust.
The event marks 60 (+1) years since the Bristol SU type of bus was first manufactured – it was narrow and ideally suited to the area. At its peak Kingsbridge had 9 SUs and the event will showcase 9 preserved examples.
The event also links to the launch of a new Tally Ho through service No. 164 connecting Totnes Railway Station to Kingsbridge and Salcombe. The programme describes the service origins more than 100 years ago and how it has evolved over the decades.
The event is always on the third Saturday in September and is now in its 14th year. The Kingsbridge Farmer's market will also be in full swing so a fun day out for all.
The day is put on entirely by volunteers. Drivers all hold the necessary licences and the roadworthiness of vehicles is verified in advance.
In 2021 we are necessarily introducing some Covid precautions for the safety and comfort of fellow passengers: Side windows will be open for ventilation, we request face coverings be worn, and vehicles will not carry full loads to ensure space. The organisers are grateful for passengers' understanding and cooperation.
