Dartington Community Choir perform Brahms choral masterpieces Ein Deutsches Requiem and Song of Destiny, accompanied by Clare Talbot and Ian Curror, piano duet, and Catherine Hamilton (sop) and Darren Jeffery (bass), conductor Simon Dunbavand.
The late 1860s saw Brahms completing shimmering and subtle choral masterpieces: immerse yourself in the warm, luminous beauty of his moving Song of Destiny, and marvel at the boundless energy and optimism at the heart of Ein Deutsches Requiem, both rich and reflective, yet fuelled by thrilling climaxes and profound joy.
This music of symphonic proportions is loved by audiences and performers alike, and is one of the greatest choral works of the nineteenth century.
Enjoy, too, complementary Lieder by Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Hugo Wolf, performed by our wonderful soloists, Catherine Hamilton (soprano) and Darren Jeffery (bass/baritone).
