Walk Waypoints
-
1
Starting from entrance to the Coypool Park and Ride, turn right towards Plymouth, then at the junction after 50m take the path opposite between the road and the old railway track.
-
2
At the end of the path, cross the road and follow the path straight on, and to the left of a college sports ground, which continues across open ground under the elevated A38 dual carriageway. Once under the carriageway, a paved path (with railings) climbs to the left.
-
3
The path enters the Saltram House grounds, then bears right keeping alongside the River Plym.
-
4
When the path joins a minor road, follow this to a main road next to Laira Bridge.
-
5
Using the pedestrian crossings, carefully cross the main road, and turn left following the pavement to reach a roundabout after 500m.
-
6
Follow the pavement to the right here, cross a road, and head towards Oreston. Immediately cross another road to join a path which soon joings the bed of a disused railway cutting.
-

-
8
After around 500m and passing under a road bridge, bear left onto a path heading towards the water visible ahead (Hooe Lake).
-
9
Carry on to Radford Castle on the dam between Hooe Lake and Radford Lake. This is the end of stage 8 and of the West Devon Way. For a scenic trip back to Plymouth, join the South West Coast Path through Turnchapel to Mount Batten and catch a passenger ferry back to the Barbican and City Centre.
