Two Castles Trail - Stage 2 Westbound - Bridestowe to Lewdown - 7 miles This stage crosses the scenic Burley and Galford Downs, both of which have views of Dartmoor, Brentor and the surrounding countryside. The stage involves following some road sections, and uneven woodland tracks and paths through fields, some of which can be muddy after prolonged rain. There are regular climbs and descents on this stage, including a steep uneven descent from Galford Down. There are gates and stiles throughout this stage.

- 2 Turn down a minor lane on your right (signed towards Coryton), and follow as it eventually descends steeply to Watergate.
- 3 Continue straight ahead at the crossroads and take the track on the right just after the bridge. Follow the track stragiht ahead after passing Burley Wood Cottage. After approximately 800m bear left at a T-junction of tracks.
- 4 Shortly after keep left at the next junction, and climb the hill. After climbing for approximately 400m the track bears right to private residences. At this point take the steps to the left of the track signed as a public footpath. Continue to climb this footpath as it becomes a rougher path and reaches a gate as it leaves the woodland.

- 8 Just before the next road junction, take the footpath on the right, and bear right uphill at the first gate. Cross the stile at the top, and continue ahead, keeping the hedge on your right and cross the stile in the top corner of the field. Continue ahead up the road to the crossroads.
- 9 Carefully cross the main road, and turn left along the pavement and follow for around 800m to finish the stage in Lewdown.
