Drake's Trail Walking Spur 1 - Yelverton to Clearbrook - 5 miles On leaving Yelverton, this route follows Drake's Leat which was built in 1591 and is among Sir Francis Drake's accomplishments. The route then follows a section of the popular West Devon Way walknig route, before following the Drake's Trail off road cycling route back from Clearbrook to Yelverton. This route is generally easy and mainly flat, with a couple of gradual climbs and descents. The surface is generally firm, with a short section along a woodland path, which also has some narrow sections.

- 2 Follow the path through the trees, and on emerging from the trees, turn left, and then immediately right.

- 4 Follow the path round to the right - signed to Elfordtown Farm.

- 7 As the track meets the road, turn right and walk gradually uphill to the village of Clearbrook.
- 8 Pass a pub on your right which makes a well placed half way stopping point.

- 10 Continue uphill, and turn right after crossing a small bridge over Drake's Leat, onto the cycle path signed NCN27 and Drake's Trail.

- 12 As a track joins from the left, retrace your steps back to Yelverton following the NCN27 and Drake's Trail signs.
