Newton Abbot is a historic market town surrounded by beautiful South Devon countryside. The town is home to a large range of shops, restaurants and open spaces and is perfectly located close to both Dartmoor National Park and a number of lively seaside towns. Newton Abbot is also very accessible by train and the station is located in town.

Exciting displays at Newton Abbot Museum tell the stories of local people and the local area, whilst also incorporating ideas from the community into the galleries.
With over 17,000 objects within the museum collection, they have many interesting and unusual objects for you to come and see. Find out what a Thwirting Iron does, what was lost on the bank of the River Teign 3,500 years ago and about Newton Abbot’s ‘Little Poland’.
Popular favourites within the displays are the Railway area with working signals and the Early History area.
Pay a visit to Newton Abbot Racecourse as they host race meetings throughout the summer months. Trago Mills Shopping and Leisure Park has a family fun park, discount shopping and one of the biggest garden centres in the area. For rail enthusiasts visit Newton Abbot’s beautiful library to browse through one of the country’s largest collections of railway history. Newton Abbot provides access to some great parks and outdoor spaces. Decoy Country Park, Courtenay Park and Bakers Park can all be found within walking distance of the centre, as can the Town Quay and new bridge, which forms part of an extended cycle route. Within a short drive you’ll find Stover Country Park and the Ted Hughes Poetry Trail. If you are looking to explore on foot, Newton Abbot sits part way along the Templer Way, a walking route tracing the 18 mile historic route granite took from the quarries at Haytor, Dartmoor, to the docks at Teignmouth.
Coach Parking
The coach drop off point in Newton Abbot is at the Western Service Yard, next to Alexandra Cinema.
Coach parking is also available in the Western Service Yard and has been designated for coaches dropping off for the market and town centre for a maximum stay of 4 hours. The Western Service Yard is accessed off Market Street near to the bus interchange and ASDA.

Newton Abbot offers a diverse shopping experience, blending traditional markets with modern retail centres.
The town's markets are a central feature. The Indoor Market and Food Hall operates Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, offering a variety of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and other goods. Services such as tailoring and mobile phone repairs are also available.
On Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Outdoor Market comes alive with numerous stalls, providing a lively atmosphere and a wide range of products.
For a more contemporary shopping experience, Market Walk Shopping Centre hosts a variety of fashion, beauty, gift, and food outlets. Additionally, the centre features independent cafés and restaurants, making it a convenient spot for both shopping and dining.
Austins, an independent department store established in 1924, has expanded to four locations within Newton Abbot, collectively known as the "Austins Quarter." It offers a wide range of products across its nine sales floors, including fashion, home goods, toys, and furniture.
For a comprehensive shopping destination, Trago Mills is located just off the A38 between Plymouth and Exeter. This expansive store features over 100,000 products across 38 departments, including home, garden, and leisure items. The site also offers attractions such as a Family Fun Park, a Garden Park, and various dining options, making it a popular choice for a full day out.
