Geocaching is a great way to experience the great outdoors that surrounds you in South Devon at no cost making it the perfect activity to enjoy if you’re trying to save a few pennies. All you need is a smartphone or GPS and a little patience at times(!) and you can take part in a real-world outdoor treasure hunt that is currently happening all over the world!

Players must try to locate various hidden containers, of all shapes and sizes known as Geocaches using the GPS technology. Once you’ve found one, you are then able to share your experience online and help others to locate the Geocache after you.

Use the official Geocache website - www.geocaching.com or download the official Geocaching application to get you started. Simply enter in your South Devon based postcode and you'll be presented with a number of Geocache locations. Utilise your smartphone to help locate the container and once you've found it you can sign the logbook and see what others have left in its place.

Spending a day or afternoon Geocaching is an ideal way to get the whole family involved in an activity and help you discover new places. There are tons of Geocaches dotted throughout South Devon, some are even placed in succession for you to find on a walking route or pathway making it easy to encourage the little ones to get active and embrace the beautiful surroundings.

The region is perfect for a Geocaching adventure. Explore the Moorland and woodland for a diverse day out, or head towards the coast and see what lies beneath the rocks and sheltered bays. Geocaching is a fun and free thing to do in South Devon that will simply enhance your holiday in the area. You can delve into the depths of the forests or simply wander through the towns and see if there’s any to be found using the app, whatever the style of Geocaching you’re looking for, South Devon can provide it.
